Aussie's are here!!!

The dancers from the Robyn Yvettte Dance Studio in Port Stephens, Australia are here!!! They've been performing in area Elementary Schools. I spoke with 18 yr. old Madalynne, who is on her second trip to the U.S. She's been dancing, shopping, touring and just basically enjoying B'ham.
What's the weirdest thing you've experienced? The North Fork Beer Shrine that served Pizza and was also a Wedding Chapel. Pumpkin Ice-cream is a close second.
What are the biggest differences? The weather (freezing!), the houses and how BIG everthing is... (we didn't even take her to McDonalds for a Supersizer).
What did you like the best about Bellingham? How friendly everyone is.
What was a cool, funky, fun thing to do? Go to Everyone's Store in Acme.
What will you miss the most about Bellingham? Meeting people and getting "rugged up" (i.e. putting on layers, hats, scarves, etc) and my host family.
What do you miss from home? Vegemite (yeast spread), milo (kinda like Ovaltine)and definately the beach! Also my family!
What's the funniest thing that happened while you were here? Well, it was fun talking to the little kids after the performances and also to the sales clerks at Zumiez ... especially one in particular!!!

Rebecca's Flowers

Many thanks to Rebecca's Flowers on Harris Avenue in Fairhaven!!! She helped us with our Flower Sales Fundraiser and also donated to the Event. It's local businesses like this that make our town such a great place to live. Visit her "Flower Shoppe" at 1003 Harris Ave, located between the Bead Bazaar and Katie's Cupcakes. It's a charming store with beautiful plants, flowers and gift items. BTW, the Flower Sales were a big success and the Nutcracker performances were OUTSTANDING! We are so grateful for all the hard work and energy that went into this event!

Nutcracker Week!!!

The Nutcracker week is now upon us, and we are ready!!! We got spit-shined and dressed up today for pictures by Jennifer Apps. Her photos are wonderful. Check out her website (link below). Next was a dress rehearsal: we ran through the total show 2-1/2 times! We are tired, but happy. Performances are Friday and Saturday evening at the Mount Baker Theatre. Showtime 7:30pm. OH! Give Thanks!

We are thankful for so many things: music, the arts, the dance studio, our teachers, strong muscles, dad lifters, the stage, audiences, cookies, pizza, turkey, costumes, glitter, creativity, sister-cities, port stephens, our new friends-the aussie dancers, wendy, debby, ice-packs, heating pads, advil, mt baker theatre, creative dance store, people who bought coffee & poinsettias, jet planes, beaches, moms, dads, sisters, brothers, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and each other!!!!

Nutcracker Joy !!!

Saturday we had two Nutcracker run-thru's at the Studio. Busy but FUN! For a few hours the studio is super crowded with parents lining the hall and watching through the windows. There are squeeky little mice, soldiers with swords, snowballs and snowflakes, bon-bons, lifting dads, jesters, merlitones (what is a merlitone anyway?), waltzing flowers and MORE!

Sunday was costume fitting day. Our costumes are beautiful, amazing, and gorgeous! Join us at the Mt.Baker Theatre for our performances on Dec 4th and 5th! It'll be a WONDERFUL Nutcracker experience!

Australia or Bust!

We are going to Australia in July, 2010!!! To DANCE!!! We've got tons to do:
1) FUNDRAISE! [we need to earn $24,000 {yikes}].
2) Host the Aussies (Ozzies?) coming to stay with us in December.
3) Organize our Wine Tasting Auction set for February 6th, 2010.
and of course, always ....
4) DANCE!!!
